For the 18th year, Subaru is partnering with Meals on Wheels America to help ensure that older adults across the country receive the meals, care and connection they need to live independently and with dignity.
The Subaru Share the Love® Event, held throughout the holidays, gives each new buyer and leaseholder the opportunity to designate Meals on Wheels as their charity of choice, to which Subaru donates a minimum of $300. The company even donates $5 for every routine service visit during the promotional period.
And those donations add up. Through the years, Subaru has contributed more than $34 million to Meals on Wheels America – representing nearly 5 million meals.
Meals on Wheels of Central Alabama, which serves homebound seniors here in Jefferson County — along with all the other Meals on Wheels nationwide — rely on partnerships such as this to keep up with growing needs.
The demand in our area, for example, is significant. In 2025 alone, our Meals on Wheels delivered more than 249,961 meals to 1,368 seniors, many of whom said that they would not have consistent access to nutritious food without this service.
How Your Participation Makes an Impact
The Subaru Share the Love® Event is going on now through January 2, 2026. When customers select Meals on Wheels as their benefiting charity, Subaru’s donations support vital senior services, including daily meal delivery, safety and wellness checks, person-to-person interaction and case management – all essential to helping older adults remain healthy, independent and socially connected.
An Ever-Present Need
Challenges facing seniors continue to rise across the country. Many older adults struggle with limited mobility, fixed incomes and the increasing cost of food and utilities.
According to Meals on Wheels America:
- Nearly 13 million seniors face hunger nationwide.
- One in two seniors living alone cannot afford basic necessities.
- The senior population is expected to reach 91 million by 2060, increasing demand for programs that provide nutrition and regular check-ins.
For many Meals on Wheels recipients, the service provides their only meal of the day and their only personal contact. Each delivery is a chance to ensure a senior is safe and supported.
A Longstanding Commitment

Subaru has a history of supporting seniors throughout the nation and locally. In addition to annual Subaru Share the Love® Event, the company previously awarded a grant in the form of a Subaru Outback to Meals on Wheels of Central Alabama in 2018 through its “50 Cars for 50 Years” vehicle donation program.
Our Subaru is still going strong; and this ongoing partnership has strengthened the ability of local programs to reach more seniors year-round.
If you’re considering a new vehicle or planning routine maintenance this holiday season, choosing Subaru is a meaningful way to help sustain vital services for seniors.
Selecting Meals on Wheels through the Subaru Share the Love® Event ensures that your participation directly benefits older adults right here in Jefferson County.
