United Way Meals on Wheels is a multi-dimensional service in that our dedicated volunteers don’t just drop off meals at clients’ doors, but also use the daily contact to check on each person’s safety and well-being. This can be particularly important during extreme weather conditions.
Just this week, for example, with nighttime temperatures dipping into the teens and daytime barely reaching the freezing mark, Meals on Wheels volunteers have been busy checking to make sure everyone is warm enough and safe. In answer to that concern, one company recently donated blankets to the program, which volunteers have distributed on their daily rounds.
