You Shop. Amazon Gives.

Maybe you’re already familiar with AmazonSmile, Amazon’s charitable-giving program that automatically donates a percentage of proceeds from your purchases to the Amazon-approved non-profit organization of your choice. If so, you’ll be happy to know that Meals on Wheels of Central Alabama is now included among the charities that you can designate to receive a contribution.

If you’re not currently participating in AmazonSmile, here are some key things to know.

  • It doesn’t cost you a cent.
  • There are no added fees.
  • Credit card rewards still apply.
  • It’s an effortless way to support a huge variety of great causes.

So how does it work? AmazonSmile (smile.amazon.com) is a website operated by Amazon that lets you enjoy the same wide selection of products, low prices and convenient shopping features as on amazon.com. The difference is that when you shop on smile.amazon.com, the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the price of eligible purchases to the charitable organization you select.

To get started, go to smile.amazon.com and use your amazon.com log-in and password (or create an account if you don’t already have one). The first time you visit AmazonSmile, you’ll be prompted to select from a list of more than one million eligible organizations. That’s where you can simply type “Meals on Wheels of Central Alabama” into the search window. Select it. And start shopping.

That’s really all there is to it. But for more details, click here.

On behalf of homebound seniors and disabled individuals in Jefferson County, thank you for supporting Meals on Wheels. Here’s hoping that shopping now gives you a little something extra to smile about!
